Privacy Policy

Summary: ChronoChat processes your chat file solely to generate your export. Your uploaded file is deleted immediately after processing. Your output is available for up to 1 hour, then automatically deleted. We do not create accounts, store your messages, or sell your data.

What data we process

When you upload a WhatsApp export, ChronoChat temporarily processes:

The chat text file — to extract messages, timestamps, and sender names
Photos (Pro plan only) — to embed in the PDF
Voice note audio (Pro plan only) — to transcribe using OpenAI Whisper
Videos (Pro plan only) — to rename and bundle in your download

A temporary session token is stored in a cookie to link your upload to your payment. No other cookies are used.

Retention and deletion

Your uploaded file is deleted from our servers immediately after processing completes.

Your generated output (PDF or ZIP) is kept available for up to 1 hour so you can download it. After 1 hour, it is automatically and permanently deleted.

You can delete your output at any time using the Delete now button on the results page.

We retain no copy of your messages, photos, audio, or any chat content after your output is deleted.

Third-party processors

ChronoChat uses the following third-party services to deliver its functionality:

Stripe — payment processing for the Pro plan. Your card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our servers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to all payment data.
OpenAI Whisper API — voice note transcription for Pro exports. Audio clips are sent to OpenAI's API. OpenAI's data usage policies apply. Under current API terms, audio is not used to train OpenAI models.
Railway — cloud hosting provider. Files are processed on Railway's infrastructure. Railway's terms and privacy policy apply at the server level.

What we do not do

We do not create user accounts or link exports to any personal identity
We do not store, log, or read your messages beyond what is required to build the PDF
We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party beyond the processors listed above
We do not use your content for advertising, profiling, or AI training
We do not use tracking cookies or analytics that identify individual users

Your rights

Because we do not retain your data beyond the short processing window, most data subject rights (access, portability, erasure) are automatically satisfied — your data is gone before you would typically need to invoke them.
